Bookstress Lauren Conrad is celebrating the launch of the first of three books as a result of her deal with Harper Collins.

The reality TV star unveiled her tome, L.A. Candy, at an event sponsored by Sunglass Hut and Vogue Eyewear. The pivotal character is Jane Roberts, whose personality is typified with a charming innocence and trusting nature. She and her outspoken best friend since childhood, Scarlett, move to Los Angeles and quickly find themselves the focus of a reality TV show.

Sound familiar? Well, it should, since the whole thing is based not-so-loosely on Lauren’s stint on Laguna Beach and The Hills. I’m wondering how many phrases exist to express “staring off absently into the distance.” Guess I’ll just have to read the book to find out!
