In cast her television career doesn’t pan out, Leighton Meester has a back-up plan in the music industry. The Gossip Girl star has just signed with Universal Republic records with a debut album planned to drop this fall.
Earlier this month, Meester released a single, a remake of the Kim Carnes hit “Bette Davis Eyes.” The sound she’s reportedly going for is one with “electro-pop edge.”
Well, the cover is decent enough. I’ll be curious to see what she does with something we’ve never heard before. I just really, really hope this means she’ll start carrying a teacup around. It’s the latest craze among up-and-coming pop stars. Or at least, that’s what Lady GaGa told me.
