No, it’s not idle gossip that Gossip Girl star, Leighton Meester is looking to branch out from acting into music. Now, you can have a listen to Leighton’s song, “Somebody to Love,” featuring soulful producer/singer Robin Thicke.

While the music industry is littered with the albums debuted by hopeful starlets hoping to make the transition from either film or television to the recording industry. However, singer/songwriter, Meester, claims she’s been quietly plugging away since she was just a teenager.

Leighton tells PopEater, “I’ve been writing since I was 16-years-old and I’ve been recording this for about three, going on four years now. And then I’ve been actually seriously in the studio for about two years and then I got with Universal, so that opened up a whole lot more for me.”

I have to say, it’s fun, sexy and not hard to listen to (check out the song after the jump). Plus, she gets points for actually writing it.
