Yowza! What would William Shatner have to say about these steamy Captain Kirk love scene shots?
While Chris Pine was sexy up the new Star Trek, Leonard Nimoy has a bit of a rough time on set. Nimoy continually fought back tears on the set of the sci-fi franchise’s new movie – because he couldn’t help but recall old pals who have passed away and former cast mates.
There was one scene he really struggled with – when Captain Kirk, played by Chris Pine, met Karl Urban‘s Dr. McCoy for the first time. DeForest Kelley, who portrayed the original McCoy, was a longtime friend of Nimoy’s and died 10 years ago next month.
Nimoy tells TV Guide, “I started crying – and it still moves me now. I loved D-Kelley, salt of the earth. I cried a lot watching this production.”
Aww. That’s so sweet. Loving Mr. Spock even more.

gah. i keep coming back to this post. this little shot did not last long enough during the movie. chris pine and zachary quinto could draw in even the non-trekkies among us.
i’m so thankful for this movie catapulting chris pine into the spotlight … just yum.
