Lily Allen Doesn’t Think There’s Anything Wrong With A Little Cocaine

January 7th, 2009 // 8 Comments

Lily Allen is bravely forging ahead with her unique Stick My Foot In My Mouth campaign. Bad for her, good for us!

The latest was culled from a sophisticated Q and A from Word magazine. For starters, Lily gets her knickers in a bunch when people try to talk smack about cocaine. Lily says some people just suck at taking drugs and a those bad-drug-takers spoil the bunch.

“The
only story is that drugs are bad and they will kill you – you will become a
prostitute, a rapist or a dealer. But that’s not true. I know lots of people who take cocaine three nights a week and get up and go
to work. But we never hear that side of the story.”

(note to Lily: take a brave peek at these three-nighter-cocaine folks once they’ve run out and none of their dealers are answering…)

Lily tried cocaine, but not because she wanted to or enjoyed it, but because she felt like a “lonely child” when everyone was snorting rails but her.

She also doesn’t like Christianity much. She went to a Catholic school, which was no fun because the teachings kicked the wind out of all her favorite things: gays, adultery, and drugs.

“All my mum’s friends were gay, my dad was having affairs and there were drugs
in the house when I was a kid, so it was a bit cruel,” she said.

Yeah, it was a bit insensitive of those nuns. They should’ve taken into consideration the  “special needs” of some of their more progressive and hip students.

I hate Lily, but she’s actually right on this one. I did coke twice in the past 12 months and somehow I’m not a raging drug addict like I was warned about becoming. I’m also able to smoke a cigarette one day then not touch them for weeks. Its those addictive types that always ruin the fun for the rest of us.

Yeah, but when you read the article, (always go to the source) Lily Allen say’s Drugs should not be glamorized, and that is one of the reasons for violent crime (at least in London anyway) She connects that comment, to her meeting with London Mayor Boris Johnson. She also says I ”don’t do drugs (but that doesn’t sell tabloid papers) The point is she’s not sticking up for cocaine uses she’s knocking it, and she was asked about her song Everyone’s at it (an anti drug song.

The thing is those “3 times a week” folks slowly creep to 4 days a week, then just a bump here a bump there then it’s 5 days a week, then you are smoking it, then game over. It lures you into thinking you are just enjoying the drug and you are not addicted -before you know it a few months of good fun has passed and now you crave it more, but you are “not addicted”….till you try to stop. That is the beauty of cocaine – it slowly pulls you in till you are past the point of rescue. I did tons of the shit in the 80′s – we freebased back in the day – it’s called crack now. I never really cared for the buzz, but was doing loads of it to blend in. Lots of friends died from strokes, heart attacks, addiction. Lost a few friends because they became addicts. WHile it is true that some people tolerate drugs better than others, it is also true that eventually it will get you no matter how tolerant your system is. It’s a nasty little drug. Stick to the things that grow naturally without any additives or processing. We’d like to keep you around a while!
