I volunteer by visiting sick children in hospitals. Many on life support and dying of cancer – believe me, your father being an alcholic and in jail is NOTHING compared to what some children go through. I just think that’s a pretty ridiculous comment to make when there are kids starving to death, etc. and you’re running from party to party in the latest clothes and a few million in the bank.

I agree that it’s kind of a pompous quote, but it’s partially true. She may not be the best actress, but all the shopping she does comes from the money that she made working. Thinking we know every detail of her life doesn’t mean we actually do. How do we know her dad didn’t hit her? How do we know she wasn’t molested? How do we know she hasn’t had some serious illness? Does the fact that she’s famous now make up for anything that’s ever happened to her?

She may not be suffering physically, but there’s no doubt that she’s been affected psychologically. I don’t think she should act as if her problems don’t exist because there’s somebody out there who has problems bigger than theirs, it’s not like she’s saying she’s had such a hard life cuz she broke her nail last week.

Coming from someone who has liked what she has kind of stood for before, (imperfection in the media, growing up with issues like eating disorders and having problems etc.) Now I think with quotes like this she is making herself out to be a condescending little brat.
