Long Live McQueen: Label To Continue

February 18th, 2010 // 1 Comment

After uncertainty over what would happen to Alexander McQueen’s label after his untimely death, the parent company PPR SA said Thursday it will continue on without the genius of its namesake designer the AP reports.

The collection McQueen was working on before he committed suicide will be shown at Paris fashion week next month, said the chief of the Gucci Group subsidiary which the label is under.

The Sartorialist had predicted as much, saying that since the Gucci Group invested millions of dollars into the company, it would be unlikely that they’d shutter the doors of the economically-sound company. Still who will possibly replace the man responsible for this?

It seems McQueen’s legacy will live on long after he is gone. Numerous designers have paid tribute to him at New York fashion week and Lady Gaga performed a stark, futuristic set at the Brit Awards in his honor.
