Madonna Breaks Ground On Raising Malawi Academy For Girls

October 26th, 2009 // Leave a Comment

International pop star, Madonna, has forged such a close bond with the homeland of her adopted son, David Banda, and daughter, Mercy James, that she has once again returned to Malawi to provide financial support to the African nation.

Construction on the Raising Malawi Academy for Girls is estimated to cost $15 million and Madge kicked off the first step by taking the first step to build the first of what she claims will be many schools to come.

She explains, “Growing up in a privileged life, I took education for granted…but coming to Malawi has taught me a lot of things and (I have) learned to appreciate what life gives.” And I bet she said it in that special accent of hers.
