I was initially wondering why she thinks that she’s above the rules. Then I remembered that whoever she paid off in Malwii already let her be above them.

What pisses me off more than anything is WHY WHY WHY do these celebrities feel the need to adopt some third world kids when in our own back yard we have PLENTY of children in need of adopting?? Seriously its disgusting and repugnant. If madonna and anjelina need to have a rainbow brood then go to the nearest inner city where i’m sure there’s plenty of children just dieing (and i mean that literally) to be taken into a great home.

Wow. You people are heartless. Who the hell cares where celebrities decide to adopt from — at least they are adopting a needy child. Anyone who adopts an orphan from ANYWHERE is a saint in my book. Anyhow, my understanding is that Madonna had been trying to adopt this little girl for almost 2 years — hardly an impulse adoption. She runs a freakin’s charity in Malawi as well. I would say she’s pretty dedicated to the cause — whether she’s a hard ass, aging pop star or not, no one has ever suggested she’s not a loving mom or that she’s not incredibly generous with her time and money when it comes to charity. She has been for years — one of the first champions of AIDS awareness long before it was fashionable or cool.

It was between baby mercy and david the first time and mercy seemed better off than david who was on the edge of death. madonna adopted him first but always vowed to go back for mercy/ chifundo. in 2007, even before david was finalized, madonna began a process of adopting mercy. then the divorce happen right before she was to go back again to malawi and she had to delay her trip. also, madonna probably madonna thought she could easily win mercy because the family consented later and because all of thesemalawian officials were in support of the adoption. also, madonna was granted honourary citizenship so she wouldn’t have to worry about (from malawian prime minister) “visas or other limitations” and “she would have freedoms in all cities”. I suppose she assumed adoption limitations too such as the residency law that she didn’t have to deal with last time and the fact that with citizenship (honourary or natural) the residency law doesn’t apply. it was a simple mistake to make, that cost her a child and one that began to even call her mom because everytime madonna was in malawi she would spend everyday with mercy.

She obviously is not happy, she did not get her way. It may yet work out; however, going public with the effort is not wise, imo.

Madonna adopting a black child from Alabama would only bring in a trickle of press and would not fill that empty gaping hole known as her EGO.
As well, writing a check for $10 Grand and giving it to the shady characters that had their claws in David does not constitute a ‘Charity in Malawi’.
Madge had her own photographers and press peeps to paint a pretty picture of ‘Saint Madonna’ saving the world one poor child at a time.
