Regardless of the fact Madonna will have to officially wait until Friday to find out if she can wrap up 4-year-old Mercy and take her home, sources are telling The Sun she’s pretty confident the ruling will be in her favor.
While in court, Madge told the judge: “To deny Chifundo [Mercy's Malawian name] the
opportunity to be adopted by me could expose her to hardship and emotional
trauma which is otherwise avoidable.”
No word on the “hardship” and “emotional trauma” of one day being Madonna’s sexual rival. That one’s a given. But she can seek solace from Lourdes when that becomes an issue in a decade or so.
Anyway, The Sun also claims to have shook down “a senior Malawian official” who said that while all this information was “confidential” Madonna’s got this one in the bag.
“Madonna is a very good mother and ambassador for Malawi. She has improved the
lives of thousands of orphans.”
Never one to second guess herself, Madonna has already called home and told her staff to get ready for a new child and David Banda has been running around the village introducing people to his new “little sister.”
