Marie Osmond unfortunately lost her son Michael to suicide, and Monday she and her family said goodbye at his funeral. In a controversial move she went to Vegas the next day with her brother Donny Osmond to perform at the Flamingo Hotel where she told the audience Michael “would want me to perform tonight.”
She also said “The way Osmonds survive is we keep singing”. During a 90-minute performance Marie told the audience her mormon faith helped her through the past week before she dedicated an opera song to her son, and the brother and sister DWTS contestants spared in a dance off . As the performance ended Donny said “I think we need to give a big round of applause for my sister for even coming on stage” and the audience obliged with a standing ovation.
I don’t think this is a big deal. So maybe she wanted a day with joy and the catharis I hear creative expression can give you. Mostly, I think it’s unfortunate that the somber situation means I can’t mention how unbelievably cheesy this show looks. Oops…

Donny and Marie were always cheesy.
I think performing might have been a way to get her mind off things. I can’t fault her for that.
