The 40th annual Matrix awards were held today at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Put together by the New York Women In Communications, the ceremony hosted the likes of Tina Fey, Gayle King, Oprah, Katie Couric, Sheryl Crow, Mariska Hargitay, SNL‘s Seth Myers, and even Brian Williams. I lava Brian Williams and want to draw hearts all over his face. Did you see him on Sesame Street? That man had me in stitches. Stitches, I tell you!
Williams was the emcee at the awards and acknowledged his masculine presence among a sea of really smart women.
“There is an elephant in the room,’ Williams quipped in his opening
monologue. ‘I don’t know why a man is hosting this luncheon.’”
The event was pretty tame. Just a bunch of intelligent people bantering back and forth about who is a woman and who got lost at Bloomingdale’s as a child (Seth Myers). But Tina Fey brought me back to life when she thanked NBC president Jeff Zucker for forgetting to cancel 30 Rock. Here’s to one hell of an oversight!
Aaaaand if you take a looksie at the event’s photos, you’ll notice that Fey and Sheryl Crow are donning the same floral frock. Fey chose to button it up a bit more by throwing on a cardigan. Come on, Tina Fey. Liz Lemon needs to let her hair down and wear a sleeveless dress.
