Contagion with it’s all-star cast including Matt Damon, Marion Cotillard, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Laurence Fishburne will prove to be a contagious to audiences this weekend and is expected to gross at least $25 million. See, they’re more than just pretty faces for movie posters! This box office release is expected to be number one, ending The Help‘s four week streak.
Also releasing this weekend, Warrior, Bucky Larson: Born to be a Star and Creature, but Warrior is the only film worth mentioning and one that will go under the radar. But I promise you, in a few weeks I will be able to say, “I told you so.”
The film is already formulated for success. It’s a story about two brothers (Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton) fighting one another in a mixed martial arts tournament. Sound familiar? Well, it should. The Fighter was huge on the movie circuit last year, winning Christian Bale a few pats on the back. Understandably so, Lionsgate delayed Warrior‘s opening due to The Fighter, but after limited pre-screenings it’s expected to follow in the same footsteps and the lead actors already have Oscars buzzing in their ears.
Ladies, while the primary demographic of Warrior appears to be mainly male, there’s more to it than meets the eye. Well actually, it’s all about the eye. Both Hardy and Edgerton are genuine, import sexy and in theaters, with HD screens – Hardy’s muscles are even more prevalent.
