Matthew McConaughey sure is willing to suffer for his art.
From being a buff, southern stripper veteran named “Dallas” in Magic Mike, to a 1980′s HIV-infected activist, the actor is going through the complete body spectrum in his movies, this year.
Just months after his press for Magic Mike ended, and in between his preparation for his 3rd child being born with his wife, Camila Alves, McConaughey has finished filming his latest movie, The Wolf of Wall Street. You’d think that after that, the actor would lay low, to be with his almost-due wife, but it seems he’s going to work to provide for his growing family until the very last second. His next project, called The Dallas Buyer’s Club is a non-fiction film that calls for a drastically different appearance than his own toned physique.
As filming of the project progresses, so has McConaughey’s weight loss. After being spotted recently looking abnormally thin, concern arose regarding the actor’s health. It was reported that the actor dropped a whopping 40 pounds in what seems like the blink of an eye,so the actor made a statement reassuring everyone that he did it all in a healthy way. ”I feel fine. I really do,” he confirmed. “I got the means to lose the weight in a really healthy way. I’m eating fresh fish. I’m just eating small amounts. I’m not being starved…I’m taking care of myself.”
In fact, the actor seems to be celebrating the recent changes his body’s been going through, also saying “It’s really been enlightening to understand my anatomy…I’m playing a guy who was sick and would have loved to have been healthier but wasn’t… for me, it’s more of a mental thing than a physical thing.”
As long as the movie turns out right, and McConaughey is happy, I guess I can stand to look at a marginally less attractive Matthew McConaughey for a while.
