Maybe They Overpaid

August 30th, 2007 // 9 Comments

Becks injured himself yet again the other day, making fans wonder what in the hell all that money was for. People here in Boston were already grumbling because you had to buy tickets to see another four games to see him play against the New England Revolution. And he sat out! Now those people are stuck watching soccer three more times! Who wants to watch soccer without the possibility of a Posh sighting? I’d rather listen to Zac Efron talk about the drudgery of filming “High School Musical 2″.

He limped out of the first half of Galaxy’s Superliga final clash with Mexican outfit Pachuca nursing a knee injury, which may keep him out for four to six weeks, meaning he will miss England’s vital European championship qualifiers.

His premature departure from the match comes less than a fortnight after he managed his first league start for Galaxy. A long-standing ankle injury kept him from playing a full 90 minutes for his first appearances for the club – and any hopes that the problem was fully behind him evaporated in recent days when he started feeling the effects of the injury again.

Jesus, get Granpa Becks a cane! He’s going to fall down after bingo soon and break a hip. Who knew this world-class athlete was so injury prone? Why not just stick Elizabeth Taylor out there?

What’s with all the Zac references, J?

  2. Jennifer

No doubt!! I’ve been thinking they overpaid since they announced the deal.

  3. Ah, the inevitable ignorant comments from people who don’t the slightest clue about soccer. All they know is whining and tantrums.

David came back too soon after the first injury (to shut up shallow gossip mongers that bought there way to see him) and re-injured his knee.

He will now need to block out the morons whining about him not playing, take a few months off and heal completely, not risk long term or permanent injury.

This isn’t American Football. You can’t drug yourself back on the field.

  4. I would much rather pay $$$ to have a player out for a serious injury than be paying $$$ for a player imprisoned on dog fighting charges.

Well, I know about what you call soccer and I know that people is supposed to pay to see a _match_, not a model running behind a ball. Perhaps in America is not known but Beckham was never that good in first place. He’s just a handsome Adidas product.

“Why not just stick Elizabeth Taylor out there?”

    Ha ha! LOL!

    What a pu$$y!!

  7. alison

he gets injured because he is too old to play

    - why do you think he is in the US; everywhere else he’d have to retire

  8. anonymouse

aw, he’s like a fine thoroughbred ……… they are expensive and beautiful but very delicate……

Yeah, Darth Paul. You are right. I thought that Zac Efron joke sounded familiar! haha! It was in a post yesterday!
