One individual who is pleased to hear that Britney Spears appears to be in the midst of a massive comeback is her good buddy Mel Gibson.

The Passion of the Christ director developed a friendship with the ailing pop star shortly after they both experienced very public meltdowns. They were first spotted out together in March of this year and in May, Britney took a vacation to Mel’s Costa Rican getaway. Last time they were seen together, was at a cigar shop in Beverly Hills.

At the 9th annual Global Green Sustainable Design Awards in NYC, Gibson said to Us Weekly of Britney, “She’s great.” He added, “She’s a sweet girl.”

Ha! Sweet? Is that supposed to be in reference to her sweet, sweet sugartits? I hope so. Because otherwise, this interchange bores me.
