UPDATE: According to MSNBC, Mischa Barton was placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold (also known as a 5150) by the Los Angeles Police Department and transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Wednesday evening, a source close to the situation claimed to Access Hollywood.

It’s been confirmed by the LAPD that actress Mischa Barton was taken from her home in West Hollywood by police on Wednesday, as a result of a health problem.

LAPD spokesperson Officer April Harding tells Us Weekly, “We responded to her home last night on a medical issue. We assisted with it. She was removed from her home.” In response to the question of whether or not the starlet behaved in a cooperative manner, Harding answered, “I guess.” I love that. She might as well have said, “Define ‘cooperative.’ “

A snitch tells Us that Barton experienced a “freak out” and telephoned authorities herself. Hmm, this all sounds a whole lot like “exhaustion,” especially given Mischa’s past.
