With poor Mischa Barton melting down and her CW series set to begin production, a contingency plan has been put in place. Filming has been postponed from starting July 22 until July 31. However, inside sources tell the Hollywood Reporter that the reason for the delay is because sets for the show aren’t yet ready.
In fact, it’s not clear what’s going to happen with Mischa in the context of the show. Reps for both The CW and CBS Television are refusing to comment, but are rumored to be working on a backup plan. This would include the introduction of a new female character to the cast.
According to Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly, “While not a direct recast, the new recurring character–tentatively named Jane–would bear a striking resemblance to Barton’s experienced supermodel, Sonja Stone. Casting is underway.”
OK, well at least that sounds like they’re still holding a place for Mischa, so that’s good news for her. While Mischa remains under medical care, her co-star from The Beautiful Life is going full speed ahead. He performed at the J-14 Magazine Presents In-Tune Concert over the weekend. I’d like to think he dedicated and inspirational song to Mischa Barton.
