Those boys are just so cute.

Britain’s hottest export, One Direction, were really working the crowd at their New York City show. The band took over the Beacon Theatre where girls screamed, sang and held up signs of love. It was like the girls at the Men In Black 3 premiere amplified.

The boys–Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan–gave girls exactly what they wants: smooth lyrics and boyish good looks. I mean, they’ve got it, why not flaunt it? Read More »

Jewel, Alanis Morissette, Sheryl Crow, and More Women Who Dominated 90′s Music [Flashback]

May 26th, 2012 // 1 Comment

Although boy bands played a significant role in 90′s music, and pop divas like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera appeared to be unstoppable at one point, these musical acts in no way singularly define 90′s music. Before, and while Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera fought an imaginary battle to be pop princess, there was a plethora of female artists who wrote and played their way into our lives. Singing about societal issues,  drug overdose, heartbreak, and other heavy topics, these women created and/or performed songs that prove to be relateable some 15 years later.

As an adult I find myself reveling in the women of alternative, folk, and 90′s rock who didn’t use flashy costumes and sweet dance moves to sell their music. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Britney Spears, and I’m not ashamed to admit I still listen to the Backstreet Boys on a semi-regular basis. However, as an adult I find myself reveling in the rediscovery of the alternative, rock, and folk options that Sarah McLachan, Alanis Morissette, and Jewel helped to create in the mid-late 90′s.

Browse the gallery and take some time to rediscover the women and the hits that might have been lost to you over the years.

Rapper Pitbull appeared on Today this morning, and Robin Thicke sung his heart out on Good Morning America. So we though we’d find out which of the two you’d rather have some alone time with.

Pitbull, who by the way is not dead (he’s battling a death hoax rumor today), performed his mega hit singles “International Love” and Give Me Everything.”

Thicke, and his perfectly coiffed mane of hair, crooned “All Tied Up” for the roaring crowd. Clad in black leather and black jeans along a red shirt for a pop of color.
