UPDATE: Fox News is reporting that Natasha Richardson has been brought back to New York City where she will be taken off life support. A statement from the family is expected to be issued tomorrow.

It is being reported that the actress is not brain dead, but is suffering from brain swelling and is reportedly sedated and on her way to NYC.

45-year-old actress Natasha Richardson is reportedly brain dead as a result of head injuries sustained in a skiing accident. Public reports have yet to receive confirmation of Richardson’s current status, but cite individuals close to family and friends as sources. Shortly after husband Liam Neeson heard the news, the actor rushed to be by his wife’s side.

According to a rep from the Quebec resort where Richardson had been skiing, “Approximately an hour after the incident Mrs. Richardson was not feeling good.” Declining to receive medical treatment immediately following her accident, Richardson was then rushed to the Center Hospitalier Laurentien in Ste-Agathe when she complained of headaches and was later transferred to Hopital du Sacre-Coeur in Montreal.

Subsequently, the actress was flown to New York City, reportedly accompanied by a medic team on her way to a hospital there.

Richardson is the daughter of director Tony Richardson and British actress Vanessa RedgraveMichael and has two sons, 13, and Daniel Jack, 12 with husband Liam Neeson.
