Neil Patrick Harris Could Possibly Be Hosting The Emmy Awards

July 2nd, 2009 // Leave a Comment

Neil Patrick Harris is apparently ridiculously close to being chosen as the host of the 61st annual Emmy Awards airing September 20th on CBS.

After two hosting turns this year, one as the host of the Tony Awards and the other as the host of the TV Land Awards, Neil has definitely proven his hosting chops. He got great reviews as the host of the Tonys (how good was his closing number?), and also for his TV Land gig where he successfully impersonated some of televisions greatest characters.

Most people now know Neil as Barney on the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother or from his break out role in Doogie Howser M.D., playing a teenage doctor. However, people sometimes forget that he is indeed a big star on stage, having starred in the Broadway revivals of Cabaret and Assassins, as well as the touring company of Rent.

I think that Neil would make an amazing Emmy host. After having spent most of his life in television, he obviously knows the business and would be able to successfully make fun of it. Plus, maybe he’ll do some awesome showstopper. Perhaps something to the tune of the Love Boat theme?
