Neil Patrick Harris Gay Enough For ‘Out’

August 4th, 2008 // 2 Comments

Neil Patrick Harris, under the banner of “A Man’s Man”, appears on the cover of Out this month. He should have appeared under the headline of “Dr. Horrible: Likes Boys And Freeze Rays.” I love Dr. Horrible.

Doogie says that isn’t here to press his dirty gay agenda, he just wants to entertain.

OUT: You’ve come under fire from a lot of gay people for what was perceived as a reluctance to come out.

NPH:
My job is jester — not advocate. I’m on a situation comedy responding
to [Josh Radnor's character] Ted Mosby and his wacky adventures –
that’s my job right now. If people want to comment about where I go to
dinner, they are welcome to, but it’s not my job to respond to those
statements. The Internet stuff threw me for a loop because I didn’t
understand where the vitriol was coming from. I thought I had been
representing well, and in turn it seemed like I was quickly condemned
to step to the plate, and I was fine with that.

I’m kinda with him on that one. He came out. That’s really all that’s necessary. He’s leading by example, right? Successful actor, who happens to like dudes and he’s not afraid to say it. Bully for you, NPH! And don’t married unless you want to!

I think Doogie is one of the best-looking, most underrated actors around today. Couldn’t care less if he’s Gay or straight. Hope he has a long and healthy career, and not end up like Rupert Everett.

Well I DO care that he’s gay. We need more uncloseted gay people — especially when they’re as Beyond Cool as NPH.
