Talk about a major upgrade. The breakout star of Precious Gabourey Sidibe, who was promoting her new TV show at the Television Critics Association yesterday in Beverly Hills, can’t believe how far she’s come.

Now co-starring with Laura Linney on The Big C, having hosted SNL and with an Oscar nomination to boot, it’s hard to believe Gabourey’s dream used to be becoming a receptionist. She described herself as a “middle-of-the-lane, very normal” person, despite a starring role on
the new Showtime dramedy in which she plays a student of Linney’s,
whose character is battling terminal cancer. Amid reports the instant-star has turned into somewhat of a diva, let’s hope Gabourey still stays humble.
