Nick Lachey recently told Australia’s Sydney Morning Herald he doesn’t understand why there are people in the world who are so interested in the details of his and his ex-wife’s personal lives.

Nick told them, “We get so used to it in the States, but, yeah, to think that it’s become like that in a lot of other places in the world, yeah, it is strange. People kind of think they know you before they have a chance to talk to you. It is a surreal thing, but I guess it’s kind of what we signed up for.”

As much as I do think Nick Lachey seems like a decent guy, I really tire of the whole “celebrities-confused-by-media-attention” declaration. If you didn’t want to be a celebrity, you shouldn’t have tried so hard your whole life to become one. But to his credit, at least he didn’t try to use the war in the Middle East as a convenient diversionary tactic, under the guise of presenting a humanitarian image of some sort. (Ahem, *cough* Lohan *cough*…)
