The talk show host’s weight gain really had her bummed out and was worrying her buddy, fitness guru Bob Greene. A regular on her show, Bob described Oprah Winfrey‘s appearance on a walk the two took together at her home in California.
“I looked in her eyes, and she wasn’t there. She was very vacant and
distracted. It was alarming to me,” Greene said. “I think I felt she
was losing her zest for life, and that was one of the saddest moments,”
he added.
Oprah was having trouble sleeping, gained weight
and suffered from heart palpitations. And because of her extra pounds,
Winfrey avoided featuring herself in full body shots on the cover of
her magazine. “This past year has been really difficult, because I
didn’t feel like a cover girl.”
That’s why I love Oprah. Because she has real problems that the rest of
us face like a wacky thyroid and insomnia and also because she can put them in
the context of something so unattainable as avoiding being on the cover
of her own magazine named after her.
It’s like her trying to explain that she was embarrassed to go to Nelson Mandela‘s birthday party because she had a crazy zit that refused to be concealed and she was worried the other famous people would laugh at her.

Money doesn’t make people happy. Her being rich doesn’t prevent depression. She works very hard on so many projects(that’s why she’s so damn rich) and hard work is stressful.
And even though it’s easier to lose weight when you have money and support, her not being able to keep the weight off just shows how hard it is to do.
