Over the past 25 years, Oprah Winfrey has wormed her way into the living rooms and hearts of American housewives across the country. She has spoken frankly about her issues with weight, interviewed countless celebrities, all the while modeling various amazing hairstyles that have enthralled and entertained.

Winfrey announced on the episode of her talk show set to air today, “After much prayer and careful thought, I decided that next season, season 25 will be the last season.”

While the 55-year-old talk show host will be retiring her long-running daytime series, she’ll still be toiling in the television industry. Oprah plans to shift her focus to launching her cable channel, OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, in collaboration with Discovery.
