The April 26 screening party for Across the Hall at the Samsung store in New York City’s Time Warner Center was dense with celebs. VH1 was asking the Question of the Week on the red carpet, and the flashbulb of photographers was blinding. The most notable stars were Will Janowitz (The Sopranos), KayGee and Treach (Naughty by Nature), Jim McCaffrey, Andrea Roth and John Scurti (“Rescue Me”) and Pras (The Fugees). Queen Latifah and the always-fabulous Gastineau Girls (that was sarcasm) were supposed to attend, but were no shows.
My favorite celebrity there had to be Treach from Naughty by Nature. He sauntered around looking cool as all hell, and girls seemed to be magnetized to him. He is really hot, but he’s a lot shorter than you’d expect. He had this belt on that had a HUGE belt buckle (I’m talking fucking enormous) with diamonds all over it. I contemplated trying to steal it, but decided against it when I saw the other people he was with.
The most amusing part of the night was making fun of all the people that tried to pass themselves off as celebrities, many of them in cheap clothes masquerading as designer. They tried (and failed) to be involved in the real action, but they ended up standing in the middle of the room, ignored.
Across the Hall stars Adrian Grenier (Entourage), James Oliver, Natalie Smyka, and Jamie Benge. The film was directed by Alex Merkin. It’s definitely a must-see short film (it’s only 24 minutes). If you need a reason to watch the movie besides seeing Adrian Grenier in a bathtub, it’s a great flick and easy to follow.
