Battling pancreatic cancer, 56-year-old actor Patrick Swayze refuses to quit smoking. Seen lighting up a cigarette, the actor recently checked into the hospital to fight a case of pneumonia.
The Dirty Dancing star’s health problems have clearly taken a toll on his famous physique. A witness who spotted Swayze said, “It was so sad to see him looking so gaunt. He is unrecognizable
from the toned actor who became a global heart-throb.”

Dang that’s sad. Can you blame the guy? With a terminal diagnosis, I’d be smoking and much more. I mean, he already has fucking cancer, what’s the point of quitting?

maybe it’s pod against the pain.

I too wish he wouldn’t smoke, however, this is his “thing”…and what a fight he has put against CA!!!I wish him the best….
A former smoker and cancer survivor.

I agree with Liz – if you have all that suffering in your life, then why give up the comfort of a smoke? It isn’t as if it’s going to hurt him now…

he’s such a tough sob.

He should be allowed to live the way he wants. I totally agree with Jon & Liz. It isn’t the smoking thats killing him. People need to quit blaming smoking for all the bad things that happen to a persons health. When the Good Lord punches your time card thats it.

“Nobody puts Patrick in a corner.” More power to him!

I agree, it’s no use quitting now, if it give him comfort than smoke away Patrick! I really hope he enjoys whatever time he has left.

I only wish it was a big joint and not a cigarette…

Saying “When the Good Lord punches your time card thats it”, is sort of like saying we have no choice in our lives, and I don’t believe that at all. I believe God wants long, healthy, prosperous lives for all of us, but he also gave us something called “free will”. With free will, we can choose to do things that destroy us or do things that enhance our lives. We have that choice. Smoking, unfortunately, is one of the main factors in pancreatic cancer (there are others, of course, but smoking is one of them). Patrick made the choice to start smoking and he can make the choice to quit (although I know quitting is tough). Either way, I wish him the very best.

Smoking doesn’t give you pancreatic cancer. Obviously he “dodged” the dangers of smoking, why quit
puffball | February 16, 2009 at 11:22 am
You dingbats! Smoking is what gives you pancreatic cancer in the first place. Look it up.

I wish everyone would leave him alone. The man is dying for God’s sake…if he wants to smoke…let him smoke!! I greatly admire him and his beautiful wife, Lisa. It just saddens me that the fucking cancer will undoubtedly win this battle. Keep fighting Patrick..may God bless you and Lisa!

Oh for God’s sake!!! Leave the man alone. He’s dying for God’s sake. Give the man some credit. If he wants to smoke, let him smoke. I admire Patrick and his wife, Lisa so much. I am saddened that this talented man will undoubtedly lose his battle to cancer.

Patrick Swayze has always been a wonderful actor. It is a shame what has happened to him. I could not believe the pics of him. My heart goes out to him and his family. As my dad had lung and brain cancer, it was caused from years of smoking. So I too wish that he would quit smoking.
One thing I can say.. he has left a wonderful impression on alot of lives.
My prayers are with the Swayze family.

Patrick is a wonderful man, appreciate him for all he has given to his fans and let him live his life his own way.

This post is very disrespectful. Give the man some privacy and respect. Quitting smoking now is not going to save his life…he said as much.
