Paul Reubens Brings Pee-Wee Herman Back

Comedian Paul Reubens has resurrected the character that made him famous in the late 80s, bringing The Pee-Wee Herman Show to Club Nokia in Los Angeles for a limited live performance run. Since the actor’s infamous 1991 indecent exposure arrest and the subsequent cancellation of Reubens’ CBS children’s program, Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, the character has remained a legend of 80s iconography and nothing more.

Now, however, Reubens has dusted off his grey suit and red bow tie and is amped up for a comeback. The comedian explains, “I want to make a big, giant, epic adventure movie based on Pee-Wee’s Playhouse. This [stage] show is what I did originally to have a career, so why not [do it again]?”

Fans interested in attending the 4-week engagement can expect to see Miss Yvonne, Cowboy Curtis and puppets Pterri the pterodactyl and Chairry the chair on stage with a colorful, intricate sets. Paul adds, “It’s going to be dazzling. It’s 80ish minutes of puppets talking and flying, and doing all kinds of technical things. No one’s ever seen this before.”

Show us, Pee-Wee. Show us.
