The rumor of a “Sex and the City” movie has once again been revived. Normally I would resist the urge to reopen the case, but perhaps I am just being hopeful.
The series was the female equivalent to the “Sopranos” or “Sports Center.” The never ending saga of Carrie and Big was as addictive as it was fun. The soap opera quality was mild and the pun train could be a bit overboard. Yet (most) women everywhere couldn’t get enough. It was a mix of chic style, martinis, and a blunt look at the real side of riding the love roller coaster. After the series ended, several movie notions were thrown around and turned down. Several suggestions as to why the movie never got off the ground were hinted at. One in particular involved a rumor of Kim Cattrall holding out for more money and a larger voice in the project.
Mario Cantone, who played Anthony Marantino in the series, has confirmed a script is being written.
“There’s nothing definitive yet. I know the script is being written and I know it will be brilliant because Michael Patrick King is writing it. I know that I’m in it. I have a nice part in it, I’m told. If it happens, we should film it in the early fall I think, but I hope it stays on course because I would love to do it. I think there’s an audience for it. There are girls who come up to me in the street in tears and say: ‘When’s the “Sex and the City” movie happening? If you look at “The Devil Wears Prada,” it was such a big success, this would do even better. “Sex and the City” has the audience and I think it’s a good time to do it now because enough time has passed since the TV series ended.”
Someone asked what the big deal about SJP was. While I think she is gorgeous, it doesn’t take six feet of beautiful model perfection to make a successful show. Just look at Fergie. I am now going to straight to hell for comparing Sarah and Fergie. But I hope you get the point.

SJP is ‘gorgeous’? i think i speak for most people with semi-decent eyesight when i say that she is faaar from gorgeous. especially up close. *shudder*
Well you’re not speaking for me (or a lot of the people I know). She’s beautiful.
