David Letterman did his best to get Penelope Cruz to crack under the pressure when she showed up on his talk show the other night. The host pressed the Spanish actress to confirm the rumor that she is currently engaged to longtime boyfriend, Javier Bardem, but Penelope remained tight-lipped.

Cruz responded, “I don’t feel comfortable talking about my private life in public.” When Dave persisted, Penelope admitted, “One thing I don’t do, I don’t lie about my personal life. It’s sacred to me. It’s my life. But I don’t give details about it because I am allergic to that.”

She also dodged any questions about a possible pregnancy, like Wonder Woman deflecting bullets with her wrists. If I were her, I would just pretend I didn’t understand the question. Que?
