Pete Wentz says that he once tried to end it all. During the recording of his band Fall Out Boy’s major label debut, Pete became despondent and tried to exit this plane of existence in a Best Buy parking lot. Christ, at least do it at Neiman Marcus. Have some class.
“I got in my car. I remember I was listening to Jeff Buckley doing Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” and sat there and took a bunch of [anxiety drug] Ativan in a Best Buy parking lot,” Pete says. He called his manager, who got his Mom to come and bring him to the hospital.
Wentz says that he was “completely lost and out of control” and had gotten a bunch of prescription drugs from different doctors. Emo boys know how to work the system. Make your eyeliner run, and the medicine cabinet is yours.
Rufus Wainwright singing “Hallelujah” would make Dr. Joyce Brothers want to kill herself, so I’m blaming the song. Pete opened up about his suicide attempt because he (has an album to sell) he is working with the Jed Foundation’s Half of Us campaign to cut student suicide rates. But if my roommate kills himself, I get an A! I kid, I kid. It’s a good cause and a real problem and you can get more info on it here.

There’s nothing funny about off-ing yourself, but your commentary, J, made me LOL. Pete is such a pretentious asshat. And of course he was listening to Jeff Buckley. All the scenester kids are into him because he’s dead.

I dont see why people are here bagging him for coming out and talking about an important issue.
It shows that his human and that he understands those sort of emotions which a lot of people are under.
I also think Travis from Gym Class Heroes was amazing how he came out and talked about his drug addiction.
