The hunky Eric Bana and the exquisite Rachel McAdams play star-crossed lovers whose lives intersect across a lifetime in The Time Traveler’s Wife, based on the best-selling Audrey Niffenegger novel. They hit the red carpet in New York City for the premiere of the film.
Rachel talked to Entertainment Tonight about time travel being a crucial element of the plot, but it was the timeless romance of the story that hooked her.
“I love ‘Back to the Future’ — if I had to pick a time-travel film that was pretty great, that would be it. But I didn’t have an intense fascination with time travel [before making the movie]. It was more that I read the book and time travel was just a unique element of a really great love story.”
“I just saw it as a device to arrange these two characters [who are] apart who are really wanting to be together,” agrees Eric, “and it was very moving as a result.”
