The New Normal

Already courting controversy from family values advocates, One Million Moms, this new comedy from Glee creator Ryan Murphy centers on a successful, committed gay couple who attempt to start a family via a surrogate – a scrappy Midwestern transplant and single Mom played byGeorgia King. Playing the couple are Andrew Rannells, who knocked ‘em dead on Broadway in The Book of Mormon and on the small screen as Lena Dunham’s ex on Girls and Justin Bartha from The Hangover franchise. The cast also includes reality show fixture-turned-actress NeNe Leakes and Ellen Barkin.  With a promising cast, topical subject matter and a little bit of Glee magic, this could promise to be the new hit for the peacock network – but can it hold its own against the equally promising Fox offering The Mindy Project, airing at the same time?
