In 2002, Cash covered the Nine Inch Nails song and added a bleak twist with the video made to honor the essence of Cash, his history, and his legacy. Featuring a frail and sad Cash interspersed with videos of a younger Johnny, the video is visually beautiful and unabashedly heart-wrenching (Cash died only seven months after filming). Finding itself on many lists of the Best Music Videos, Hurt has very few contenders for the title.
