In July of 2008, Shia was driving late at night with Transformers co-star Isabel Lucas when he got into a car crash. Another car ran a red light and crashed into the the driver's side, crushing Shia's hand. Because he refused a breathalyzer, he was arrested for misdemeanor drunk driving. Although the other driver was later found at fault, he recently admitted he had drank "three or four"  beers just a few hours before.
