Amanda Borden
Borden just barely missed the 1992 Olympic team and almost quit gymnastics after that devastation. Fortunately, she stuck with it and at 19 years old she took the seventh and final spot on the 1996. Despite having no prior Olympic experience and being a weaker performer overall, Borden was highly respected by her teammates and was nominated to team captain in an unanimous vote. At the games she competed on beam and floor in the team finals. She set the bar high when she lead the team on beam with a solid routine and nailed her landing.
