Shannon Miller
The most decorated gymnast in U.S. History (2 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze), Shannon Miller won 5 medals in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, including a silver medal in all-around. Miller was unable to compete in the 1996 Olympic trials due to injury, but successfully petitioned for a spot on the Atlanta team. In Atlanta, Miller was the team's highest scorer and looked secure to medal in the All-Around competition; however, a wrist injury presented difficulties and she eventually placed 8th. In addition to the team gold that year, she also took home gold on the balance beam and became the first American to win that event.
