Even though Scotty McCreery walked away this season with the title American Idol, fellow contestant Pia Toscana established herself as a fan favorite early on in the competition. Despite her premature departure, Pia has not given up on her dream of making music.
Pia is spending Memorial Day Weekend in Washington D.C. where she is performing the National Anthem during the National Memorial Day Concert. Before her big performance, Pia spoke with People Magazine about her upcoming album and how she reacted to her American Idol elimination.
Of her departure from American Idol, Pia said, ”During my elimination there were so many things that were running through my mind, I kept saying, ‘What’s going to happen with my career?’ I’m looking at my parents, like ‘Did I let them down?’ “
However, she is not bitter about the departure and admits that she was able to get a head start on her music career as a result and she assures fans that she started working right away on her music. There is no scheduled release date for the album, yet. However, Pia did share details of what fans should expect on the album: “It’s definitely going to be big ballads, but there’s also going to be those fun up-tempo songs, those dancing songs. I feel like on the show people really only saw me in one way, and I want to show the world that I can do other things.”
