Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will greet their first child (or children, I’m still not ruling out twins), come July 2013. Clarence House confirmed the news today via Twitter and their website:
Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to confirm they are expecting a baby in July. The Duchess’s condition continues to improve since her stay in hospital last month.
Hurrah! Though we could only detect a hint of a swollen belly last week at the National Portrait Gallery, Catherine is looking the picture of health (and might I add, gorgeous). Her belted Whistles dress gave barely anything away, and today’s announcement confirms that HRH is in her third month.* It’s believed that Clarence House was forced to announce Catherine and William’s good news early due to health concerns. Catherine was (and may still be) suffering from acute morning sickness in the early days of her first trimester, which led to cancellation of a string of engagements.
This and her hospital stay would have surely tipped off the media, so the royal household’s press office had no choice but to release a statement in early December.
Fact: The late Princess of Wales‘ birthday is July 1st. What a little blessing this future monarch will be!
*I made an error and initially said “third trimester” instead of third month. I have no excuse except for my elation over a royal baby. Forgive me.
