Pro-Lifers Want To Make Sure Dr. Seuss Isn’t Advocating Abortions

March 9th, 2008 // 20 Comments

Good grief, you can’t even sit through a movie without someone throwing doll parts at you and screaming that you’re murdering babies! Here’s Jim Carrey, Jenny McCarthy and Jenny’s son and Jim’s daughter at the premire of the new animated flick “Horton Hears A Who!”. You would think this would be an exercise in family time. No, because some right to life people chose to crash the the party at Mann Village Theatre and protest abortion. Victoria Beckham and Steve Carrell were also in attendance.

Reportedly, the protesters were inspired by the message of the film which is “”After all, a person is a person no matter how small.” They got up after the film ended and began chanting and then sealed their mouths with red tape which read “Life”. Well, that part’s not bad. I’m all for silent protest. Just don’t get in between me and my preztel bites. I promise, I won’t abort my baby. Now shut up.

Isn’t Jim Carrey’s daughter beautiful? She’s not all desperately up in the showbiz radar, probably way too classy for that.
But if she wanted to be in showbiz I’d much rather look at her than Rumer Willis and Ali Lohan. Bleurgh.

  2. Thank you for not posting any protest pictures :) Lordy, that is some nutty protestation.

    C.U.N.T.S.

too bad family planning has been banned from the red states, those protesters might have had nothing to protest had their mothers had the proper resources. No baby no protesters.

WTF is wrong with people that do shit like this ? Pro-Lifers are just plain stupid !!!!!!!! This is a kids show with kids attending assholes!!!!!! Why would you ruin that ?
Let people do what they want with their own bodies period….it’s their choice, not anyone else’s !!!!!

  5. They look happy. It’s said that they have joined naturistspace.org recently. They often go to beach and being a naturist in their spare time. Maybe it is benefit to them, because they can enjoy their difficulties with friends, which can give them a good relax

  6. Zekers

Jeez, now the spammers are pushing nudist colonies???

Wonder how many of those Right-To-Lifers have adopted drug-addicted babies? They don’t want women to have abortions, yet they get pissy when asked how many children they’ve adopted…

  7. ?

    Is Jim’s daughter pregnant?

  8. Jen#1

Does a pro-life person really have to adopt a crack baby to justify their feelings about a child’s right to live? Maybe they give thousands of dollars every year to mom and child centers. Maybe they give thousands to support healthy moms
and unborn babies. Maybe they volunteer
at child crisis nurseries. Maybe they take great care of their own children and their neighbor’s children too. You don’t know what people do, so why are you judging them? Why should people be treated like dirt because they believe an unborn child has rights? What crime have they committed? Their only crime is they’re not so arrogant as to think they know when it’s ok to take a life or when life begins. If you’re so sure you know well then good for you. I hope you’re not wrong.

  9. Zekers

Maybe they do all of those pious tasks that you mention Jen#1, or maybe they are entering territory that is none of their business. Obviously, you are a RTL person, and being a RTL person, that gives YOU the right to dictate to others what they should or should not do with their bodies? As far as I’m concerned, you can think whatever you want and so can I…please show the same consideration for women that do not choose to have a child, it is none of your business!
I meant what I said, since RTLers don’t want ANY abortions, well then, step up to the plate with answers for the thousands of babies that are brought into this world, sick and/or unwanted.
For the record, I personally could never have an abortion, but I don’t think I’m so all-knowing that I can tell others that they CAN’T!
Oh, and as far as RTLers being “treated like dirt” how, exactly do you think they make a woman feel who just entered the door at Planned Parenthood for an abortion, only to be accosted by RTLers, telling her how awful she is…?

  10. Zekers

    and Jen#1 I forgot to ask…

You said: “You don’t know what people do, so why are you judging them?”

If you truly feel this way, doesn’t blogging at a gossip website kinda fly in the face of that statement?

Zekers, don’t you “enjoy your difficulties with friends”?
    I know I do.

  12. Zekers

    Immensely, Loob! :)

  13. Loob

    hehehe :D

But seriously, I move those spammer assholes get banned really thoroughly, or tasered really thoroughly.
Please, although I know it’s a big ask of the staff here, to try to lasso them all.

  14. Jen#1

I don’t think checking out what celebrities do and making silly comments is the same thing as taking a life. Sorry you do.
Is an unborn child a real child or is it not a child? That’s what it comes down to. I think you’re wrong when you ask what business is it of mine. If someone looks at an unborn child as a real life well then taking that life can be thought of as killing. Killing is everyones business.

  15. spaz

Jen, dear, if you’re against abortions, don’t have one.

but please don’t think or act like you know what’s best for the women who do choose to have one.

Until it’s illegal in this country to have one, yelling at or harassing the women who choose to have one will do NOTHING. Yell at and harass the politicians who actually decide for it to be legal. “Protesting” at a movie premier is pointless.

  16. Tiff

Ok Ok The main point is that they have no buisness protesting at a childs event. That was in horrible taste. Save your “save the world” protesting for another time , another event. People wonder why people dislike RTLers so much -lets see they show up at the wrong places , wrong time they bring graphic pictures that my 5 year old doesnt need to see or that I will have to explain to a innocent mind. They say how closed minded prochoice people are but there just as freakin bad. Dont judge someone till you live a day in there shoes. Get off your soap box please.

  17. T-Bone

Jen isn’t on any more of a “soapbox” than the rest of you out here. But I digress…obviously, protesting at a movie where most of the people seeing it probably gave birth to (and are probably caring for) their children, doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. It’s like preaching to the choir, so to speak. Not only that, but children don’t really need to be exposed to this stuff at such a young age. Just let them see their movie in peace.

On the RTL vs. Pro-choice issue — absolutely no easy answers here, in my opinion. Both sides have good arguments.

  18. Zekers

Yes T-Bone, there is no “easy” answer…it comes down to a personal choice, and I don’t think that choice should be taken from women.

  19. ohnice!

Oh what better way to traumatize young children than a Right to Life protest at a Dr. Seuss movie!!!

Why don’t these bitches start adopting some babies to prove their point instead of running around scaring the sh*t out of kids?

  20. Totally inappropriate to do an abortion protest in front of kids! These pro-abortion people are just plain retarded.
