All it took for director Quentin Tarantino to convince Brad Pitt to star in Inglourious Basterds, which recently screened at the Cannes Film Festival, was several bottles of wine and a mysterious sort of smoking device.

The 45-year-old actor explained that before he realized what was happening, he had signed on to star in a film with the fast-talking director.

“Quentin came to visit some time at the end of the summer, we talked about backstory, we talked about movie–I get up the next morning and see five empty bottles of wine right on the floor, five, and something that resembles a smoking apparatus–I don’t know what that was about – and apparently I had agreed to do this film.”

What a coincidence. That’s how I tricked my first husband into marrying me.
