Rebecca Hall and Jon Hamm talked to W about their much-anticipated film The Town, the newest Ben Affleck Boston project and a chance for the two rising stars to shine. The two talked about their charmed careers (Hamm’s long road to sudden success and Rebecca’s life-long career in the theater given her famous director father) and played off the other’s witty banter. It’s about time two smart, upcoming (gorgeous, don’t forget that) actors get a chance to really sink their teeth into a grand tragedy, and not The Ugly Truth.
But there was also time for some less intellectual conversation. W made sure to ask Hall about if there’s any truth to those Sam Mendes rumors.
“Oh, you’re going to do that, are you?” she said.
Ever the comedian, Hamm replied, “The reality is that I broke them up.” Rebecca went along adding, “Jon Hamm was sleeping with Sam Mendes.”
When W asked if a sex tape existed, Hamm said, “Does it? He directed it. It’s
beautiful.” Ha!
And don’t worry there was even time to take a dig at Lindsay Lohan. Rebecca was up against a lot of other leading ladies for her role and asked Jon to spill who the competition was.
“I was going to say Lindsay Lohan, but
that’s not really funny anymore,” he said. “It’s sort of sad.” OK but would you think less of me if I still thought it was funny?
