Rebecca Romijn Talks About Being Pretty on “Ugly Betty”

After “Pepper Dennis,” I was convinced that Rebecca Romijn should avoid acting jobs that didn’t involve her covered in body paint, or hawking beauty products for about thirty seconds at a time, until she appeared as Alexis Meade on “Ugly Betty.” Now, I take it all back. Apparently, the role that she was born to play was a male-to-female transgender working in the cutthroat fashion industry. Who knew? In any case, I absolutely love her on the show, especially the fact that she easily towers over pretty much any guy on there.

Romijn is featured on the June cover of Marie Claire and chatted about her career and relationship in an in-depth interview. However, since I think that her fiance, Jerry O’Connell, is about as interesting as dryer lint, I’m just going to focus on her role on “Ugly Betty.”

“I’ve had a lot of people ask, ‘How does it feel to be a man?’ My response is, I’m not playing a man. I’m playing a woman, and Alexis loves being a woman. And so do I! And she’s very girly. And so am I! But she’s also really lonely. That’s where we’re different.”

I heart Alexis Meade. Especially when she’s pissed off and about to throw bows, while rocking stilettos. Now THAT is a chick who can multi-task.

  1. I heart Lisa Timmons, for keeping “throw them bows” alive. In your fly-ass boots OR your open-toes, Timmy.
