In the wake of her divorce announcement, Reese Witherspoon has yet to step back out into the spotlight, choosing instead to nurse her wounds in private. However, it looks like she’s ready to get back into the public eye and has chosen to do so at the Kennedy Center Honors gala in Washington D.C. next month. E! Online’s Planet Gossip Blog has more:
The Dec. 3 event is most likely to be her first red carpet public appearance since she and her husband of seven years, Ryan Phillippe, announced they had split late last month. Witherspoon, sources tell me, plans to be there to present to her idol–and mine, too–country music goddess Dolly Parton. “My favorite country singer of all time is Dolly Parton,” Witherspoon once gushed about her fellow Tennessean to Reader’s Digest. “Ever since I was six years old, when people would say, ‘Who are you going to be when you grow up?’ I’d say, ‘Dolly Parton.’ “
That’s adorable, also mostly because you know there are just scads of southern drag queens who probably relate that same anecdote to friends at dinner parties.
