Remembering Bernie Mac

August 17th, 2008 // 3 Comments

The funeral for deceased comedian and actor Bernie Mac was held in his hometown of Chicago at the House of Hope on the South Side. Fellow cast and tourmates from The Original Kings of Comedy Cedric the Entertainer, D.L. Hughley and Steve Harvey stepped up to the podium to speak fondly of their friend and colleague.

Cracking jokes about their friend, the three comedians alternated between solemn remembrance and raucous laughter over past anecdotes. Steve Harvey said, “I’ll see you soon, Bernie…Well, I don’t want to see you too soon.”

Other notable attendees of the funeral were Rev. Jesse Jackson, Chris Rock, Don Cheadle and Samuel L. Jackson. Those who could not attend, sent notes including Sen. Barack Obama, Oprah and Bernie’s Ocean’s Eleven co-star Andy Garcia.
