Remy Ma’s Itchy Trigger Finger

July 16th, 2007 // 15 Comments

Rapper Remy Ma has been arraigned for allegedly shooting a friend in the stomach over the weekend, and now details from her past have emerged, indicating that she’s been involved in gunplay in the past. Authorities have divulged that Ma, whose real name is Remy Smith, was suspected to have shot at the head of a Bronx man four years ago. Luckily for both involved, she missed her target.

Now, however, she is facing assault and weapons possessions and attempted murder after leaving friend, Makeda Barnes-Joseph, with a gunshot wound in the stomach. Barnes-Joseph is in stable condition at the moment and Remy Ma is herself out of jail on $250,000 bail. The victim was a friend of Ma’s and frequently baby-sat for the 27-year-old rapper’s son. With a history of violence under her belt, which also includes attacking a 15-year-old girl when both of them were residing in a homeless shelter in the Bronx, her rep is attempting to say that Remy Ma is more victim than aggressor in this situation.

Ma’s rep, who identified himself only as “Big Joe,” president of New Era Management, said his client was being exploited.

“Everyone would love to put a celebrity in a situation and spin it,” he said. “Remy Ma is being put in one of those situations for financial gain . . . 99 percent of the time, artists are the victim.”

The shooting is reportedly over an argument over $2,000. To Remy Ma’s credit, the woman was wearing a t-shirt with a target painted over the abdomen and must have been awfully hard to resist.

Should violent hip hop gang bangers really be called celebrities?

Lisa T sounds so gangsta and shit in this post using all these gangsta names and shit!

LOL!! Obviously I am so out of touch with the “hip hop gangsta world” :D

Nice to see ASL is equal opportunity when it comes to which “celebs” they report on. :D

And I must say, this was quiet a thorough posting. I’m beginning to think Lisa T might be a little too intrigued by this gangsta stuff….oh yeah…and shit! :D

I’m impressed that Ms.Ma has gone from living in a shelter to being a successful performer.
But I do wish I knew why some famous folks feel the need to bring guns along with them when they go out for drinks…aren’t the body guards supposed to handle the firearms for them?
Or shouldn’t some one speak up and say “now,Ma do you really need that gun? You know how you get after 3 Alize’s…”

You know what our problem is? We always see ourselves as the victims, even when we gun down others in cold blood.

We make celebrities out of criminals whose only skill is that they can rhyme some words together. Why do we place these niggas on a pedestal and reward them with millions of dollars?

Let’s be honest: none of them are all that talented.

Last night I saw an episode of Cops. There were these two white trash guys arguing over 1K. How is this any different???!!!! “big celeb news” Cops is a great show. No matter if it is Newark, Little Rock, Santa Ana, Des Moines, it is a combo of the same white trash and ghetto over and over and over mix, rinse repeat.

As long as young black men look up to pieces of shit like Diddy, 50 Cent, etc instead of Dr Ben Carson or Barack Obama, you are going to have this problem. Oh, and the fact that the “parents” have absolutely no interest in their education doesn’t exactly help either.
