Things are not awesome sauce between Cory Monteith and Glee creator Ryan Murphy. Monteith has been vocal about the cast being overworked and underpaid, and Murphy is getting sick of hearing about it. “Cory was the show’s golden boy but has most recently been the most vocal member of the cast complaining. He feels they are being overworked. They were filming and toured without any time to recover,” a source told Page Six. It’s gotten to the point where Murphy is reconsidering Monteith’s role on the Fox show, so says the source. Ruh roh.

Monteith believes that the cast deserves more compensation for the work they’ve been doing on the show, but Murphy “thinks Cory is causing trouble.” In a radio interview last year, Monteith said, “I got 400 bucks from it going No. 1. But you know what, that’s OK, because if I’m patient, and if this thing does really well, maybe I’ll see another 400 bucks.”
Monteith’s rep denise any friction between Monteith, who was spotted at the Windsor Arms Hotel in Toronto yesterday (September 11th) and Murphy.
This is just a piece of spin from Ryan Murphy – designed to undermine Monteith as he opens a new film at the presitigious Toronto Film Festival. This isn’t so much about money (Monteith took a part on a no-budget flick in favor of the superbowl chevrolet commerical and also plays in a rock band which hasn’t even been signed) but time. They want to tie up their stars rather than giving them a hiatus so they can do the movie roles. Don’t do the Execs dirty work for them.
Monteith is known in this industry as one of the most humble, down to earth and sweetest guys…being depicted here in a way that is just not fair. He is so kind to fans, does so much more fan interaction, interviews and has worked so hard to represent the show. He also admits to having to put more time in on his singing and dancing which wasn’t in his background. With all that trash from last month with Ryan Murphy saying he would get rid of his starts you would think the show would be more careful about these ‘sources’… Looks like Chord Overstreet made the right call to jump ship.
This is complete bullshit. No, not the part about the cast being tired and overworked. That part is true and Cory is totally in the right to demand better schedules for the Glee cast. Their working hours are unheard of by Hollywood standards. The bullshit is Ryan Murphy threatening to write off one of his best actors and blocking his future projects for having the balls to speak out.
And Cory is in Toronto to bebut his new film Sisters & Brothers at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival.
