After a successful premiere at the 65th Annual Cannes Film Festival, Robert Pattinson took his new film, Cosmopolis to Paris for another lookie-loo. The British actor posed for pictures alongside director David Cronenberg at the Le Grand Rex, secure in the knowledge that he won’t have to deal with another young adult film.
He got a scare Saturday morning after promoting Cosmopolis, waking up to read that he had been cast in the next installment of The Hunger Games. ”I was kind of curious for a second. So I called my agent,” Pattinson told USA Today. ”My agent was like, ‘No. No one’s going to offer you that part,” Pattinson said with a laugh. “I was like, thanks for the reassurance.”
Luckily Cosmopolis got a standing ovation in Cannes, something Cronenberg warned Pattinson would not happen. ”David tells me the night before, ‘I’m fully expecting some boos,’ ” Pattinson recalled. “I was literally like, ‘Why are you telling me this?’”
Pattinson said he didn’t watch the movie. ”I was waiting for people to walk out,” Pattinson said. “I was expecting a fight.” It was only at the after-party (and perhaps a gentle backrub courtesy of Kristen Stewart?) where Edward Cullen was able to drink in the night. ”It took a full three hours of continued panic,” he said. “Full adrenaline. It was just too weird.”
