Probably no surprise to the Twilight fans in New York, but filming Remember Me was an ordeal due to the massive amount of groupies and paparazzi creating a difficult environment for filming, and for Robert Pattinson who had to go to the bathroom accompanied by 14 guards. All the actors had to perform intimate scenes with 700-1,000 young girls buzzing around, some even arriving at secret locations at 5:00 am hoping for a peek of Pattinson coming out of his trailer. The overwhelmed star talked to NewsOK about the experience.
“It’s weird,” he said. “I did this film, and I hardly knew anyone on the crew because I couldn’t get out of my trailer, especially the first month.” He struggled with finding a way to make things work. On one hand he said he didn’t feel like he had the opportunity to experiment much with his role to get comfortable, but he tried to find the positive in the situation. “[I]t’s really a quite nice lesson in discipline because you literally have to do it,” he said. “You can’t say, ‘I’m not performing until all these people go away.’ It was way more intense than any of the Twilight films even.”
I feel bad for him. I mean he’s trying to grow as an actor and find his way in the movie world, but he says so many fans and photographers make it hard for him to let go of the self-consciousness and delve into character. But then I’m probably not allowed to both feel bad and enjoy the pictures from him on the set of Bel Ami. He says that he’s hoping that if he focuses on making quality films he can strive to turn celebrity into a career, the way he feels Johnny Depp has done.
Here he is at the premiere of Remember Me which is now in theaters and stars Robert Pattinson, Emilie de Ravin, Chris Cooper, Lena Olin, Pierce Brosnan. Remember to check out the Remember Me Facebook page.
Check out the Remember Me featurette after the jump.

That really was a problem for him and for everyone in the crew. I think that with time, like Robert said, everybody will calm down, but this may take a while, because the Twilight fever has a long way to go…Good luck Robert Pattinson! :)
